YouTube Downloader saves public YouTube videos as MP4, MP3, or WAV files.
Paste a video link, check the video info, pick a format, and the file is saved
to the download location you have set in Chrome.
This extension does not collect any personal data. It does not collect your
name, email address, location, web history, browsing activity, or any
identifying information. It has no accounts and no login.
When you paste a YouTube link, the extension sends that video ID to YouTube's
public oEmbed endpoint to fetch the title, author, thumbnail, and duration.
It then asks the open source Piped service for the public stream URL of that
video and downloads the stream through Piped's public proxy. This is the same
public data your browser already exchanges when you visit a video page, and
the requests contain no personal information.
If you choose a custom extraction instance in the advanced settings, the
extension asks you, in that moment, for permission to reach exactly that one
host. Nothing is sent to any other site.
MP4 mode saves the video stream as it is. MP3 and WAV modes decode the video's
audio track with your browser's own audio engine and encode the file locally
using a bundled open source encoder. Your files and your download history
never leave your device.
The extension stores only a short list of your recent downloads and the
extraction instance you chose, inside your browser profile on your own device.
That data never leaves your browser and can be cleared whenever you clear your
browser data or uninstall the extension.
The extension includes no third party trackers, no advertising code, no
analytics, and no remote scripts. The popup contains a clearly labeled,
non interactive reserved space that is not an advertisement and loads nothing.
You can remove the extension at any time through your browser settings.
Removing it deletes its stored history from your profile.
