Living Weather Wallpaper replaces your new tab with a living sky that matches the weather forecast for your location. It shows the current conditions, a 7 day forecast, and an animated scene drawn entirely on your device. The weather data comes from Open-Meteo, a free service that needs no account and no API key.
To show weather for your area, the extension can use your device location with your permission. Your coordinates are sent only to Open-Meteo to fetch your forecast and to a reverse geocoding service to turn them into a place name such as a city. They are not stored on any server and are not shared with anyone else.
You do not have to share your location. In the popup settings you can pick any city in the world by name, and the extension will use that city instead. The city name you choose is saved in your browser's local storage on your own device.
This extension does not collect, sell, or share any personal data. It has no accounts, no login, and no server of its own. Weather requests are anonymous lookups of public forecast data.
Your temperature unit, location mode, and chosen city are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device. They never leave your browser and are cleared when you clear browser data or uninstall the extension.
